It feels like a number of trends are converging at the moment. I’m reading a lot in the blogosphere about software as a service (applications delivered through your web browser), cloud computing (accessing IT infrastructure over the web) and the latest netbooks to appear on the market (wireless computers without hard drives).
The increasing popularity of web applications, distributed services, and portable, web-enabled devices signals that we are in the process of shifting away from our reliance on the single desktop computer with local storage to using multiple devices that let us access information, create and collaborate, and store our data ‘in the cloud’.
