Scrum lunch at Boost
On Wednesday we held our second Scrunch meet-up at our Wellington office. 8 Scrum Masters attended and spent a productive hour covering a range of issues including:
- how to include design in Scrums
- metrics for business value
- how to ensure small tasks and housekeeping tasks are accommodated within a sprint
- can/should a team member also be the Scrum Master
It was incredibly useful having attendees from 5 different organisations, the conversation was lively and provided a lot of great ideas for us all to take forward into our daily lives on Scrum projects.
If you missed out this time, don’t worry because in a little over a month, we’re doing it all over again. Join us here at Boost, 12pm, 30th of August for more Scrunch meet-up goodness. BYO lunch but tea, coffee and soft drinks are on us.

Great topics, how did you decide on the agenda? Is anyone welcome to these? @ScrumMasterNZ

Hi Stephen – yes all Scrum masters and coaches are welcome, you can sign up via our meetup page: http://www.meetup.com/scrum-practitioners-lunch/events/74959452/
Here’s how it works:
The first 20 minutes will be general chit chat, during this time anyone can propose a topic by writing it on a post it note and putting it on the wall. Everyone will then dot vote to prioritise the topics. Discussion of the first topic will be time-boxed to 8 minutes with subsequent topics time-boxed to 4 minutes. At the end of each time box the facilitator will ask everyone to determine whether they would like to move to the next topic or continue discussing the current topic for another 4 minutes.
All of the topics we discussed at the 2 lunches we’ve held were examples from our working lives as Scrum masters and coaches. Join us for our next one 30th August – bring lunch, we’ll provide tea, coffee and soft drinks.
