Digistories is a hybrid CD/DVD-ROM resource developed for the Ministry of Education.
The objective of the resource is to help teachers understand and make use of 'the learning object model' to facilitate learning in their classrooms.
The hybrid CD/DVD-ROM combines a website ROM component that features four case-studies including interviews and reflections with teachers and kids (viewable on a computer), with DVD video of the interviews and reflections that can be presented to larger groups for training purposes.
Learning objects are chunks of digital material (such as graphics, text, audio and animation) specifically designed to engage and motivate student learning. Learning objects are based on recent research into how children learn and how teachers can facilitate learning. Learning objects are particularly useful when a concept is hard to represent, difficult or dangerous to replicate, or when repetition is required.
