Winner of the TUANZ (e)-vision 2005 Education 'Facilitated Learning' Award, and 'Best of the Best' Interactive Innovation Award

The Taiaha CD-ROM was developed for Learning Media. It contains ten high-interest illustrated texts supported by audio, glossary, a highlighter pen and yellow stickies that enable the student or teacher to record comments or suggestions. It also includes interactive activities that enable the student to work with the texts to create their own cartoons, answer questions, and mirror the writing styles. The students work can be saved for later, or exported for use in other applications.

The CD-ROM is part of the National Literacy Strategy and is designed to help raise the performance of reluctant readers in years 7-10, with a particular emphasis on the interests of Māori and Pasifika boys.
