Design

Human-centred design that creates intuitive, accessible experiences for everyone.

Boost design team

We do design differently at Boost. We involve users and clients in our design process from day one, and our Designers work hand-in-hand with our Developers, creating solutions together as part of the same Agile process.

It makes our work more efficient, saving you time and money and giving us space to focus on what matters — creating the best possible experience for everyone who uses your product.

Our skills

UX design

We use UX design to solve complex problems, turning abstract technical requirements into simple, intuitive user experiences. We ground our approach in the Laws of UX and current best practice, and constantly refine our understanding of who will use your product and how we can improve their experience, creating personas and user stories to focus our design choices on specific needs, and validating everything we do with testing and feedback.

UI design

Our designers are experts in making your product a joy to use. We follow best-practice UI heuristics to translate your brand into high-fidelity designs that engage your users and communicate who you are. We create design systems and pattern libraries, so anyone who manages your product can keep it looking beautiful and consistent.

Co-design

We believe the best solutions are designed with users, not for them. Our co-design approach means we get input and guidance from users and stakeholders at every stage of the design process, so we can create solutions that meet their needs, in the ways they want.

User testing

Testing is embedded in every stage of our process, from start to finish. From card sorts and tree tests to in-person usability tests, we use a range of methods to check everything we design makes sense to the people who will use it, and keep improving based on what we learn.

Accessibility

All our products are designed to be inclusive and accessible for everyone. We make sure everything we design meets NZ Government Web Standards and the W3C Web Content Accessibility Guidelines.

Information architecture

However complex your information, we can help you give your website a logical, intuitive structure. We use card sorts and tree tests to understand how your users group information, and design architectures that make it easy for them to find and do the things they need to.

Content strategy and writing

We translate your information into clear, well-structured plain English content your users can follow. We follow NZ Digital Government content guidelines and meet plain language requirements without compromising your organisation's voice and tone, or overlooking the needs of your audience.

Bilingual design

We work to increase the visibility of te reo Maori on our clients' websites in ways that feel authentic and consistent and meet specific user needs.
