Boost is a New Zealand software company based in Wellington. We build and maintain digital products and services for our clients, including public sector organisations.
This notice explains what personal information we hold, why we hold it, and what you can do about it. We handle personal information in line with the Privacy Act 2020.
We collect only what we need, and we do not sell personal information or share it for anyone else's marketing.
If we have contacted you and you would rather we had not, email [email protected]. We will tell you what we hold and delete it on request. You do not need to give a reason.
Systems we build for clients sometimes contain personal information about other people. That information belongs to the client, not to us, and we handle it on their instructions.
If you want to see or correct information held in a system Boost built for another organisation, contact that organisation. If you come to us instead, we will pass your request on and help them answer it.
Our website uses Google Analytics, which sets cookies to record how people use the site. We look at this in aggregate to improve the site. We do not use it to identify individual visitors.
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, or install Google's opt-out add-on. The site will still work.
We use trusted providers to run our business, including cloud hosting, email and file storage, recruitment software and website analytics. Some personal information passes through their systems. Each is required to protect it and to use it only to provide their service to us.
Some of those providers store information outside New Zealand, including in Australia, Europe and the United States. Before we use one, we satisfy ourselves that it must protect personal information to a standard comparable to the Privacy Act, as Information Privacy Principle 12 requires.
We may also disclose information where the law requires it.
We keep personal information only as long as we need it, or as long as the law requires. Employment and recruitment records are kept for seven years. Records of privacy requests are kept for at least three years. Everything else is kept while it is still useful for the purpose we collected it for, and deleted when it is not.
You can ask us what personal information we hold about you, and ask us to correct it if it is wrong. If we disagree that it is wrong, you can ask us to attach a statement of your view, and we will.
Email [email protected] or use the contact form on our website. We may need to confirm who you are first, so we do not give your information to someone else. We will respond within 20 working days, and there is normally no charge.
We limit access to personal information to the people who need it, encrypt it in transit and at rest, and require multi-factor authentication on our systems. If something goes wrong and it is likely to cause you serious harm, we will tell you and notify the Privacy Commissioner, as the law requires.
Tell us first, at [email protected]. If you are still not satisfied you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner at privacy.org.nz or on 0800 803 909, and you can do that at any time.
We will update this notice when how we handle personal information changes. The date at the top shows when it last changed.
